Action for Children helps some of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people. Our work is varied, the effects far reaching. Youthbuild is a construction programme for 16-19 year olds who have faced considerable disadvantage and who may face a range of challenges that affect their ability to maintain and sustain employment. Providing a comprehensive 6-week in-house training programme followed by a work placement and 6 months paid employment in the construction industry, each young person is assigned a dedicated practitioner to support them through the programme. That’s where you come in.

You’ll provide support that helps address the issues and barriers young people face in securing and sustaining employment. A role that’s all about positive interventions, you’ll deliver a range of personal development and employability sessions that will enable them to successfully complete the programme. As part of the 6-week programme you’ll also undertake weekly site visits to monitor their progress. You’ll have an SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care or Careers Guidance and be used to working with young people in both a group setting and on a one-to-one basis. Any experience of working in construction or an employability background would be useful as would a driving licence and your own vehicle. Action for Children. Whatever it takes.
